Flutes
My flutes are mainly inspired from Native American Flutes and Shamanism and manufactured based on old flute making techniques in combination with some modern techniques and tools.
I once listened to a Shaman that said: “If you look at the horizon of trees and landscape and let that inspire you to playing the flute. Follow the tree line and play low notes on shorter trees and higher tones if the tree is higher. Follow mother natures beauty and magic music will be created”
A wooden flute made with love is a beautiful instrument and tool and the most amazing thing is that my flutes are tuned with the pentatonic scale, which means that ANYONE can play it without previous experience from playing or knowning music theory.
Why is that possible? Well first of all, the tones on a pentatonic scale can be combined in practically any order and still sound good. And combining that with playing from the heart (intuitively) you will create magic music, so listen to your inner voice and heart and let go of all “fears”, just play…
Pre-made flutes or custom made?
Well that is entirely up to your preferences. Have you not owned or played on a flute before a pre-made flute in a standard key tone is a perfect choice. If you want other key tones or custom design or totem then of course a custom made flute is the choice for you. If choosing a custom made flute we sit down and talk about what your flute should be inspired by, choice of wood, which key tone and if there is a specific totem animal/symbol that is important for you. A custom made flute will be made with the intention and love to represent your personality and wishes.
The process of making flutes
Flute making is a multi-step process before it can make it´s first sound. Each step is important to how the final result will be in sound quality, tuning and look and feel.
These different steps span over several days and the most exciting part is when it´s time to listen to the first sound and start tuning the flute. This is a critical moment and needs to be done with great care so the tuning will stay in the key note scale.
Last step in making a custom made flute is a ceremony dedicated to the flute and it´s newly owner.
